How Bishop Makes Me Suffer Vagina Cut Under Pretence of Loyalty Test

A 23-year-old former assistant pastor of “I Reign Christian Ministry” (name withheld) has told an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court how a Lagos-based bishop and the founder of the church, Daniel Oluwafeyiropo allegedly raped her twice for the sake of anointing her.

Oluwafeyiropo is standing trial on an amended 3-count-charge bordering on rape and sexual assault which he pleaded not guilty to.

The witness told the court she was a former assistant pastor of the church which was located in Akungba Akoko in Ondo State, following her contact with the Bishop on May 28, 2018 when her friend invited her for a programme that the Bishop came for in Akungba, tagged “strictly supernatural”

According to her, she subsequently became a member of the church in Akungba and rose to the position of assistant pastor and one Pastor Boluwatishe Oladejo took over from one Pastor Toyosi Bamise as the lead pastor.

She was led in evidence by the state counsel, Mr Babajide Boye and told the court that the bishop, whom she regarded as her spiritual father, allegedly raped her at his home on June 21, 2020 at his residence on Flat 4, Road 2, House 18, Ikota Villa Estate, Lekki, Lagos.

The alleged survivor told the court that the bishop had given her a phone call on June 5, 2020 that it was her turn to come around with some other pastors to his house in Lagos.

She said on June 19 when she got to the house, the bishop came out from the room that she had a query to answer and the punishment for her was to transcribe his message titled “fulfilling my ministry”.

She said, “The following day on June 20, only the bishop and I were left in the house after others pastors have left.

“The bishop told me to go on a three-hour prayer work around the estate but I came back home 30 minutes prior to the elapse of the prayer hours due to rain.

“He questioned me why I came to the house earlier and I told him it was due to the heavy rainfall.

“When I entered the guest room where I was sleeping, I met one sister Jummy, who was also a church member. She was about taking her leave when I came inside the room.

“I was seated on the couch that same day listening to pastor Chris message when the bishop walked up to me from the dining section and made comments on the teaching I was listening to.

“He ordered me to go naked again which I did for the fear of what had happened prior because the bishop accused me of not being submissive and loyal to him as my spiritual father.

“He said he wanted to know my loyalty and see If I have finally submitted to him.

“I told him I could do anything for him but sex. He tried kissing me and I stopped him then he slapped me.

“His eyes turned literal red and he was shouting and I was already in tears as the slap was a very hot one.

“He started telling me how he had thought me about honour and said that an angel came to him a night before to test me to go naked.

“He said he told the angel he was going to test me to go naked to prove the angel wrong that I have not fully submitted to him.

“He said he likes his wife so much that he can never have sex with me

“He was in tears and said that I can not submit to him. So he ordered me to wear back my clothe and I started begging him but he said that I have disappointed him,”

The witness said the next day when she was listening to Pastor Chris’ message when Bishop came to the three-seater chair she was sitting and he told her to go naked for the third time.

“For the fear of what happened a day before, I went naked, Bishop locked the door, increased the volume of the television and went naked also.

“He pinned me to the chair and raped me. He was bigger than me and I was bleeding from my private part.

“I was begging him to stop but he did not listen and when I told him of the bleeding, he said he knew that should shut up.

“He ordered me to go wash up, he collected my phone and cleaned the blood before I came out of the bedroom.

“He threatened that I will run mad if I told anyone so I was in the guest room till the following day .

“On June 22, I messaged Pastor Boluwatishe and told him through a whatapp code which we usually chat with and informed him that I had been violated,”

The alleged survivor also told the court that the Bishop did not allow her go out of the house after the first alleged sexual encounter with him.

“He sent the gateman instead anytime I needed anything. It was at this time that it was dawn on me that this man is a rapist.

“So for my safety, I was acting stupid and acted like I did not tell anyone.

“I was in the room when he came to me again and said he wanted to have sex but I refused.

“He was very angry so I told him I have tear in my vagina from the previous sexual violation.

“On June 23, I was coming out from the room to the kitchen and he came out of his room too tying a towel and said he wanted to have sex with me.

“He said I should count it as a privilege that he violated me because many people would love to have sex with him but I told him I have someone I am dating that he is not attracted to me.

“That same morning of June 23, he took off my dress and raped me again in the sitting room.

“He told me I will die if I tell anyone. I bled the second time because of the forceful entry,” she said.

The alleged survivor further told the court that after the defendant allegedly had sex with her the second time, he came back to her begging.

According to her, the defendant took her to a studio for a photo shoot and ensured she was with him throughout.

“The next day which was June 24, he told me to clean up the house that was when sister Faith and Pastor Toyosi came in to the house.

“I tried talking to Pastor Toyosi but bishop did not give me a breathing space until he traveled to Ghana and I went home.

The alleged survivor also told the court that the defendant sent him the sum of N5,000 while he was in Ghana to treat herself after the tear she sustained turned to boil and she could no longer pee.

“It would require me to put plaster on my vagina before i could pee my lord.

“I sent him a message concerning it and he promised to take me to hospital when he gets to Nigeria.

“He got back to Nigeria with his two children and wife and when the wife asked why I could not walk well, bishop told her I contacted toilet disease.

“He came to meet me about 3.30 a.m. in the guest room and brought out a rod to swear in front of this children that I will run mad if i tell any that he raped me which I did out of fear.

“He took me to First City Hospital in Lekki where Dr. Tina Clement, a member of the church attended to me, run some test, gave me drugs and sent the result of the medical examination to him.

“When doctor asked what happened to me, bishop told me to tell her I was raped by my friend and he was with me throughout the test,”

After her narratives, a computer print out chats between the alleged survivor and the defendant were admitted in evidence.

Oluwafeyiropo is alleged to have had sexual intercourse with one other alleged survivor and sexually assaulting another aged 19 years by forcefully sucking her breasts.

According to the prosecution, the alleged offences contravened Sections 260(2) and 263 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

Rape is punishable with 21 years jail term while sexual assault attracts three years imprisonment.

Justice Ramon Oshodi adjourned the case until May 24 for cross-examination and continuation of trial.
