Suspected Thug Arraign In Court Over Free-For-All in Ebute-Metta

A 35-year-old suspected street urchin, (thug) Emmanuel Iwalekun, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly engaging in a free-for-all.

Iwalekun, was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on affray.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Mr Olusegun Kokoye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Sept. 19 at 4:30 p.m.

Kokoye said that the defendant and others at large engaged in street fight under a bridge at Okobaba in Ebute-meta.

He said that the offence contravened Section 413(2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, and punishable under Section 54 of the law.

The Magistrate, Mrs Sakirat Obasa, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She added that the sureties must be gainfully employed and have evidence of two years’ tax payment to Lagos State Government.

The matter has been adjourned till Oct. 18 for mention.
