
A Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja has sentenced former General Manager of Dangote Industries Limited, Raymond Akanolu and others to 14yrs imprisonment for their involvement in a $32,000 insurance fraud.
Delivering judgement, Justice Sedoten Ogunsanya found Akanolu, Mojisola Aladejobi, and Balogun Omololu Alaba guilty as charge
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, arraigned the convicts on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and attempt to obtain money by false pretence to the tune of $32,000.
According to the charge information, the defendants, sometime in October, 2014, in Lagos allegedly conspired among themselves to defraud Dangote Industries Limited of the sum of $32,000 by inflating the premium for the renewal of insurance policy cover for its Hawker Aircraft with Registration Number. 5N-DGN.
The offence according to Prosecutor is contrary to section 323 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, No. 11 of 2011.

They pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the charges preferred against them.
The prosecution counsel, Samuel Daji called witnesses and tendered documents that were admitted in evidence to prove the case against the defendants.
In his judgment, Justice Ogunsanya sentenced each of the defendant to seven years imprisonment each on both counts of the charge without option of fine.
