The family of Eniafe Toheeb, who was shot dead by a police officer in the Obalende area of Lagos State, is seeking the intervention of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to expedite the investigation into their son’s death.
The family is concerned about the delay in the investigation and is urging the IGP to ensure a thorough investigation is carried out to identify the officer responsible for shooting their unarmed son.
Toheeb was allegedly shot by the fleeing police officer at the premises of the NNPC filling station located at Obalende roundabout in Lagos, on the orders of another officer, Omeje Christian, who was apprehended and handed over to the police authority.
Mr Eniafe Noheem, speaking on behalf of the family, expressed disappointment with the slow pace of the investigation being conducted by the Panti Police Station in Yaba, Lagos.

He believes that the lack of progress in the investigation is indicative of a potential cover-up to protect the police officer involved.
The family is calling for justice for their deceased son and is appealing to the authorities, government, and human rights organizations to assist them in seeking justice.
They are also requesting the police to expedite the investigation and bring the perpetrator to justice.
Additionally, Mr Wale Giwa, Vice Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, who witnessed the incident, provided a detailed account of the events leading to the shooting and highlighted the urgent need for a thorough investigation.
He emphasized that the filling station where the incident occurred has surveillance cameras that could aid in the investigation.
The family and witnesses are pleading for a swift and fair resolution to this tragic incident.
