
Justice Sherifat Sholebo of a Special Offences Court has fixed April 13 to commence trial of two alleged robbers, Solomon Timilehin and Azeez Lawal for stealing phones worth fifty thousand naira.
The defendants were arraigned before the court by the state government on a three-count charge levelled against them.
According to the state Counsel, Olawale Ijabiken, the defendants committed the alleged offences on March 31, 2019 at under the bridge, Abule Egba area of the state.
Mr. Ijabiken who told the court that the defendant stole mobile phone from one Maduekwe Emmanuel, urged the court to take their plea.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Subsequently, the defendants counsel, E. D. Henshaw prayed for accelerated hearing, noting that the matter had suffered series of delay at the instance of the prosecutor.
He argued that the defendants who were presumed innocent until found guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction had been in custody since 2019 despite not been tried.
In a counter reaction, the prosecutor, Mr. Mr. Ijabiken stated that the state is fully ready to commence trial in proving the case beyond reasonable doubt.
Justice Sholebo thereafter gave the parties three days as way to expedite trial while adjourning till April 13,14,&15 @9AM to entertain the trial
