The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has pleaded not guilty to the amended 20-count charges levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Emefiele denied all charges during his re-arraignment at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Maitama, Abuja.
The trial has been adjourned to the 12th and 13th of February for further proceedings.
Emefiele’s defence team requested that he continue to enjoy his bail, which the court earlier granted.

The prosecutor did not object to this request, stating that they wanted Emefiele to attend his trial in good health.
The trial Judge, Justice Hamza Muazu, sustained Emefiele’s bail condition.
The charge was previously six counts but was increased to 20 counts.
The amended charge borders on criminal breach of trust, forgery, conspiracy to commit forgery, procurement fraud and conspiracy to commit a felony.
Emefiele was arraigned on November 18 and had pleaded not guilty to the six-count charge.
