Evans Accomplice Dies in Prison Custody

An alleged billionaire kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, accomplice, Chiemeka Arinze, has died in prison custody over HIV complications.

Chiemeka Arinze, is standing trial alongside, Evans, Joseph Emeka, and Udeme Upong, over the attempted kidnap of Chief Vincent Obianodo, the Chairman of the Young Shall Grow Motors, before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of an Ikeja Special Offences Court.

They are facing a seven-count charge of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, attempt to kidnap and sale and transfer of firearms.

According to a medical report obtained by Top Court News Nigeria, primary cause of Chemeka Arinze who died on Friday, November 26, 2021 is Cardiopulmonary arrest.

It was gathered that Arinze, who has been sick, was rushed from the prison to a Ajeromi General Hospital, Ajegule on Friday, where he later died at 9:08pm.

The medical records from Ajeromi General Hospital, Ajegunle signed by Dr. Salisu B. E. indicated that the deceased who died at the age of 45 was suffering from complicated Advanced HIV.

The matter is expected to be heard today before a Special Offences Court in Ikeja.
