Top Court News can exclusively report that viral claims alleging the arrest of Dr. Femi Olaleye in London for a sexual-offence investigation remain unverified, with no supporting evidence from relevant UK authorities.
In the early hours of Tuesday, social media platforms were flooded with posts claiming that the founder of the Optimal Cancer Care Foundation had been detained in the United Kingdom over a fresh sexual-offence allegation. Several low-tier blogs quickly amplified the story, presenting it as a confirmed development.
However, Top Court News’ independent fact-checking investigation shows that no official record, police confirmation, or court document currently supports the claim.
Our newsroom conducted checks across:
The Metropolitan Police public notices and arrest bulletins
Other UK law-enforcement portals
UK court listings for new charges or appearances
Credible UK and international media outlets including BBC, Guardian UK, Sky News and Reuters
None contained any information linking Dr. Olaleye to an arrest or ongoing investigation in London.
Experts say such a high-profile arrest, if true would ordinarily trigger an official police statement or court listing, especially given the cross-border public interest involved.
The only verifiable legal history involving Dr. Olaleye remains the well-documented proceedings in Nigeria relating to sexual-offence allegations in Lagos State, matters that have travelled from the High Court to appellate stages. These cases are entirely separate from the unverified UK claim now in circulation.
A senior UK-based legal source contacted by Top Court News noted that “an arrest of this nature would not remain undocumented across all official channels,” adding that the online reports “appear to be speculative at best.”
As at press time, neither the Metropolitan Police nor any other UK law-enforcement authority has confirmed detaining Dr. Olaleye. Attempts to reach his legal representatives for comment are ongoing.
Top Court News will continue monitoring official channels and update the public immediately if verifiable information emerges.
