Former P-Square Manager Jude Held at Ikoyi Custodial Centre Over Theft Charges

A Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja has remanded Jude Okoye, the elder brother of Peter Okoye (alias Mr. P) and Paul Okoye (alias Rudeboy), who was the former manager of the defunct music group P-Square.

He is facing allegations of stealing $1,034,537.

Jude was arraigned alongside his company, Northside Music Ltd., on four counts related to theft.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Justice Rahman Oshodi ordered that Jude be held at the Ikoyi Custodial Centre while awaiting the hearing of his bail application.

The case has been adjourned until March 6 for this hearing.

EFCC Counsel, Mr. Mohammed Bashir, requested a trial date and that the defendant be remanded at the correctional center.

Jude’s lead counsel, Mr. Clement Onwuenwunor, informed the court that a bail application dated January 27 had been submitted and urged the court to grant bail.

Bashir indicated that the prosecution intends to file a response to the bail application and requested a short adjournment for the prosecution to submit counter-affidavits.

In the charges marked Ref/99260/2025, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alleges that Jude dishonestly converted the sum of $767,544.15, which was paid to Lex Records Ltd. as payment for music digital distribution/publishing royalties, with the intent to permanently deprive Peter Okoye of his interest in the property.

The EFCC also claims that between 2016 and 2023, Jude dishonestly converted £34,537.59, also paid by Lex Records Ltd. for music digital distribution/publishing royalties, again intending to deprive Peter Okoye of his interest.

Additional allegations from the commission state that Jude converted $133,566.49 paid by Kobalt Music for digital distribution/publishing royalties, and $118,652.23 paid by Mtech Limited for similar purposes, both with the intent of permanently depriving Peter Okoye of his interest in the funds.

According to the EFCC, these alleged offenses contravene Sections 278 and 285 of the criminal laws of Lagos.
