Illegal Detention: Sowore Ask Court To Jail DSS Boss

Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, and Olawale Bakare, have asked Federal High Court in Abuja to take dislipnary action against the Director General of Department of State Security Service Yusuf Bichi.

The two applicants filed the contempt suit against the DSS Boss for disobeying the court order which granted them bail.

They had earlier commenced a similar legal action which they did not follow through, following the refusal of Bichi to obey the order of Justice Taiwo Taiwo for the two men’s release from custody after the 45 days period the judge permitted the DSS to hold them in custody expired.

Both men, who have been held in the custody of the DSS since August 2019, want the court where they institute the fresh legal action to jail Bichi for being in contempt of court.

They had both on November 15 filed separate human rights enforcement suits seeking N500m damages, each, against Bichi and the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, for their refusal to release them.
