Lamido Sanusi Expresses Confidence in Elevation of Justice Abiru to Supreme Court

Former CBN Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has expressed confidence in the elevation of Justice Habeeb Adewale Abiru to the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

He described the position of Judges as dangerous and sensitive but said that Justice Abiru embodies equity, fairness, accountability, and transparency.

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi made these remarks at the Special Prayer organized by the Movement for Islamic Culture and Awareness, MICA in honour of Hon. Justice Habeeb Adewale Abiru on his elevation to the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

The former Emir of Kano cited verses of the Holy Quran and warned Justice Abiru to be wary of senior advocates of Nigeria and lawyers who may attempt to compromise the course of justice in favour of their clients.

He urged Justice Abiru to remain steadfast in his quest for justice and not to succumb to worldly rewards.

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi emphasized that politicians often buy their way into power through corrupt judges who are willing to compromise for financial gain.

He cited an example of a high-profile case brought before Justice Abiru in Lagos but was promoted twice by the National Judicial Council to the Court of Appeal because he refused to compromise.

The former CBN Governor believes that our society will be just and equitable for all if justice is dispensed according to the law without bias.

In response, Justice Habeeb Abiru expressed his joy at the attendance of the former CBN Governor and other prominent lawyers.

He asked for continued prayers to succeed in his new role at the apex court and also affirmed his belief in Nigeria’s future.
