Over N6million Fraud: Court Remand Contractor

Magistrate, Aishat Ajanaku, of Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo has ordered the remand of a contractor, Bashiru Olaitan, in prison pending the perfection of his bail terms.

The Nigeria Police had arraigned the contractor for allegedly defrauding a company, Cadtech Nigeria Limited, of the sum of N6.3m.

According to the police prosecutor, Ayodele Oladiran, Olaitan presented himself as the owner of another company, Powerex Nigeria Limited, a claim he knew to be false.

He was said to have fraudulently obtained the said sum from Cadtech Nigeria Limited by claiming to be the owner of Powerex Nigeria Limited.

Olaitan was charged with two counts charges bordering on fraud and stealing.

The offences were said to have been committed between June and September 2018 in Osogbo.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges,

His Counsel, Mr Eyotayo Soji, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.

Magistrate Ajanaku, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 and two sureties in like sum after submission from counsels.

The Magistrate said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction with evidence of tax payment and two passports photographs attached with an affidavit of means.

The case was adjourned untill Dec 19 for hearing.
