
Police Arraigns one Iwanefun Over Brother’s Death
An Ondo State Police Command has arraigned one Ilesanmi Iwanefun before a Chief Magistrate Court in Akure for allegedly killing his brother, Orimisan, with a pestle.
Iwanefun was said to have committed the offence on January 24, 2021, around Madagbayu street, Kiribo area of the state.
He reportedly hit his brother with a pestle during a fight.
The Police counsel, Inspector Taiwo Oniyere, informed the court that the offence was contrary to sections 316 and punishable under section 319(1) of Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.
The plea of the accused person was not taken when he was arraigned because he had no legal representation.

Subsequently, Presiding Magistrate, O. L. Abu, ordered the remand Ilesanmi Iwanefun to the Nigeria Correctional Centre.
The Magistrate directed the prosecutor to duplicate the case file and send the same to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
He adjourned further hearing of the case to March 8, 2021.
