
Supreme Court Mourns Following Demise of Justice Oseji
The atmosphere of the Supreme Court of Nigeria early this afternoon was thrown into sad mood as news of the sudden death of one of it’s Justices Samuel Chukwudumebi Oseji kicked the bucket.
The late jurist died in an Abuja hospital early today after a protracted illness at the age of 67 years old.
Justice Oseji was elevated to the Apex Bench in November 2020. He was one of the eight Justices sworn in to the Supreme Court Bench last year.
The late Jurist was born at Idumuje Unor in Aniocha North of Delta State on June 2, 1954.

He attended St. Mathew’s Primary School, Idumuje-Unor, Delta State, 1963- 64; Nigerian Peoples High School. Lagos, 1977-79; St. Patrick’s College, Asaba Delta State, 1979-80; University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State; 1980-84; Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos, 1984-85.
He observed the National Youth Service Corps. 1985-86; Legal Aid Officer, 1986, Principal Legal Aid Officer, 1992; Senior. Magistrate Grade I, 1994; Chief Magistrate Grade II, 1996; Chief Magistrate Grade I, 1996; Deputy Chief Registrar, 1996-97; Chief Registrar, 1997, Judge, High Court, Delta State, since 1998.
He was elevated to the bench of the Court of Appeal in 2010. While on the Court of Appeal Court bench, he served in Enugu, Lagos and Benin divisions of the court before his elevation to the apex court last year.
