Yahaya Bello Saga: Presidency Says Tinubu is Approaching the Fight Against Corruption Differently

President Bola Tinubu has expressed his commitment to fighting corruption in a new way, aiming to use lawful institutions to combat pervasive corruption in Nigeria.

He has empowered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other institutions for systemic changes.

Unlike his predecessors, Tinubu’s administration plans to protect public funds using EFCC and other empowered institutions.

Aides to President Tinubu have explained that his administration is determined to eliminate corruption and make it distasteful to all public officers.

Tinubu has given anti-graft agencies, particularly the EFCC, a free hand to operate efficiently and independently. His administration also aims to make these agencies more accountable.

This approach represents a departure from the past in fighting corruption.

Tinubu is committed to restoring public trust in the government and aims to hold past officials accountable for corrupt practices.
