The Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja has granted bail to Yahaya Bello, the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, in the amount of N500 million, along with the requirement of three sureties.
Justice MaryAnne Anenih announced the decision after considering a new bail application, as the court had previously denied Bello bail during the last session.
Bello, along with two co-defendants, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, is facing 16 charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
These charges relate to criminal breach of trust and money laundering, amounting to N110.4 billion.
The court also granted bail to the second and third defendants, each in the sum of N300 million, with the provision of two sureties and additional conditions.
