The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Victor Bernard Onuimo before the Lagos State Special Offences Court, Ikeja, over an alleged N25 million fraud.
Onuimo was arraigned before Justice Ismail Ijelu on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence and stealing.
The prosecution alleged that sometime in May 2025 in Lagos, the defendant, allegedly operating under the name of Fluor Integrated Ventures, induced Akomotu Nwachukwu to part with N25 million under the pretext that the money would be used to clear containers.
The EFCC further alleged that the defendant dishonestly obtained the money, which belonged to Akomotu Nwachukwu.
The charges were brought under the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006, and the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Onuimo pleaded not guilty to the two counts.
Following his plea, defence counsel moved an application for bail, which Justice Ijelu granted.
The court admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N10 million, with conditions including the provision of a surety whose suitability must be verified by the court.
The court also directed that the defendant’s residential address be verified and that he should not travel outside Nigeria without the court’s permission.
Justice Ijelu subsequently adjourned the case until November 2 for trial.
