Jibrin Oppose Appeal Court Ruling
The Former Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Hon Abdulmumin Jibrin, has expressed his readiness to have a rerun election to uphold electorate quest for democracy.
Hon Jibrin made this known while rejecting the judgement by the Court of Appeal which nullified him as an elected candidate to represent his constituent at the Federal House of Assembly.
The Court of appeal yesterday had nullified the decision of the tribunal, upholding his election on the ground that the result sheets were mutilated and ordered a fresh election across the constituency.
In a statement made available to newsmen, the lawmaker rejected the appeal court ruling, adding that the ruling runs contrary to other precedents of the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.
He, however, said he is prepared for a rerun election as a democrat even as he charged his supporters to remain calm as he has unflinching faith.
“No election is a do or die affair. I remain unshaken in my belief that the people of Kiru/Bebeji who have consistently and repeatedly been freely giving me their mandate will not hesitate in doing so again.”
