EndSARs Panel Adjourn Petition For Report of Deliberation Over Adewuyi’s Brutality

The Lagos State Judicial Panel on Restitution For Victims of SARs Related Abuses and Other Matters has adjourned till April 20 for report of deliberation over land dispute matter between the Inspector General Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu and a Petitioner, Prince Adenwale Adewuyi.

The Chairman of the Panel, Justice Doris Okuwobi, Rtd adjourned the petition for parties in the matter to finalize settlement.

Prince Adenwale Adewuyi a seventy six years old man told the panel through his lawyer Debo Adeleke how Police encroaches on his farmlands and demolished the structure without any court order to justify their actions.

He noted that all efforts to get justice and retrieve his land has been frustrated by the IGP and his officers.

Mr. Adeleke urged the panel to summon the Police to appear before it to explain why Police disobey the resolution of the Case Management Conference, CMC on the matter.

According to him, Justice M. O. Emeya who oversee the CMC ordered the Police to pay him the sum of N856,350,000 as a compensation and to vacate his land while adjourning for report of settlement.

After entertaining submission of the petitioner, the Chairman of the panel, Justice Doris Okuwobi granted the prayer as pray and ordered the Petitioner, to serve the IGP, AIG Co-operative, COP Legal Dept, and Surveyor General of Lagos State within seven days to state their own side of the story

At the resumption hearing, the Petitioner counsel, Debo Adeleke expressed gratitude to the panel for the effectiveness of discharging justice to victims of injustices.

He noted that all parties involved honored the summon and reach out to him for the matter to be resolve amicably.

Debo Adeleke stated that with the interference of the Panel over the petition, it has shown that hope is not loss for common man.

On the police part, their counsel, Bonnyface Asogwa told the Panel that Inspector General of Police, has ordered all concerns officers to ensure they handover the land to the Petitioner as soon as possible.

He then pray for short adjourned date to allow parties tidy up every documentation over the matter and report settlement.

Contributing, counsel to the AIG Cooperative, Okey Barrage who aligned himself with the prayer of IG told the Panel that team of concerned officers had visited the sites and work is in progress to ensure Justice delivery
