NBA Legal Education Committee To Hold Legal Horizons Conference 2023

The Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Ikeja Branch Continuing Legal Education Committee in Lagos will be holding a two-day seminar to address navigating ethics, liability and remuneration in contemporary practice.

According to the Committee Chairman, Victor Opara, SAN, the seminar tagged “Legal Horizons Conference 2023” will be held on November 22nd and 23rd at Adetiloye Hall Archbishop Vining Memorial Cathedral Church, Ikeja, Lagos.

The Vice President of, the World Association for Medical Law will deliver a keynote message, while five Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dr Olisa Agbakogba, Mr Yemi Candide-Johnson, Mr Layi Babatunde, Mr Femi Falana, Mr Adeleke Agbola, and three lawyers, Prof Cheluchi Onyemelukwe, Dr Babajide Martins, Mrs Oyinkan Badejo-Okusanya are part of panelist that would be discussing at the seminar.

Day One:
Organ Harvesting and Tissue Transfer:
Donor, Donee, and Physician Responsibilities, Implications of Informed and Uninformed Consent, particularly with Minors, Medical Negligence, Ethical Concerns, Civil and Criminal Liabilities, Legal Defences, Evidence and Burden of Proof and Crime Prosecution.

Day Two:
Legal Practitioners’ Remuneration:
Enhancing Skills, Navigating Pitfalls, Adapting to New Trends, Assessing the Impact of the 2023 Legal Practitioners’ Remuneration Order, Understanding the Scale of Charges and Fee Structure, Implementing Fee Recovery Strategies, Venue Considerations, Fee Recovery Suit (Dos and Don’ts), Recent Statutory Changes/Interventions, and Addressing Rule Violations in the Context of the 2023 Legal Practitioners’ Remuneration Order.
