Former P-Square Manager Jude Okoye’s Legal Battle Begins Over Alleged Financial Misconduct

Music executive Jude Okoye, best known for managing the defunct P-Square duo, found himself at the center of a legal storm as he was arraigned before the Federal High Court in Lagos over allegations of financial misconduct.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has accused Okoye and his company, Northside Music Ltd, of involvement in money laundering activities amounting to ₦1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59.

Among the key allegations is the purchase of an ₦850 million property in Ikoyi, Lagos, which the EFCC claims was acquired with illicit funds.

Okoye, however, pleaded not guilty to all seven counts brought against him. His legal team, led by Inibehe Effiong, sought to have him remain in EFCC custody while awaiting a bail hearing, but the prosecution pushed for his transfer to a correctional facility, citing overcrowding in EFCC detention centers.

Justice Alexander Owoeye ruled in favor of the prosecution, ordering Okoye’s remand at the Ikoyi correctional facility until his bail hearing on February 28.

The trial is set to commence on April 14, setting the stage for what could be a high-profile legal battle.

As the case unfolds, the spotlight remains on Okoye, whose reputation in the Nigerian entertainment industry is now entangled in serious financial crime allegations
