LAGOS — Nigeria’s e-hailing sector is set to receive a new indigenous platform as PromiseLand Innovations Limited prepares to launch ProTaxi on October 1, 2026, with a business model centred on affordable transportation, technology and cleaner mobility.
ProTaxi, a locally developed ride-hailing platform, is designed to connect passengers with drivers while providing a safe, reliable and cost-effective alternative for urban transportation.
The company said a major component of its strategy is the promotion and adoption of electric vehicles, which it believes could lower vehicle operating costs for drivers and, in turn, help make fares more affordable for passengers.
The platform is owned by Amb. Lawrence Oloche, who also leads PromiseLand Estate’s plan to develop 100,000 housing units across Nigeria, beginning with the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
According to the company’s Chief Executive Officer, ProTaxi will give drivers greater flexibility by allowing them to determine their working schedules, whether operating full-time or for selected hours while earning through the platform.
The company said it has a long-term ambition of making ProTaxi one of Africa’s leading eco-friendly ride-hailing platforms by promoting sustainable transportation and encouraging the transition to clean-energy mobility.
“We believe getting around should be easy, affordable, and environmentally responsible,” the company said.
Beyond its electric vehicle focus, ProTaxi comes with features aimed at improving passenger convenience and safety, including in-app trip booking, location-based driver matching, multiple payment options, trip information and digital access to receipts.
The platform also provides safety features such as driver verification, real-time trip tracking, passenger ratings and reviews, while riders can share their live locations with family and friends to enable real-time monitoring of their journeys.
For drivers, the company said the platform offers flexible earning opportunities, allowing them to choose when to work and whether to operate on a full-time or part-time basis.
The October 1 launch marks PromiseLand Innovations Limited’s entry into Nigeria’s technology-driven transportation industry, expanding its business interests beyond real estate into urban mobility.
The move comes amid rising transportation and vehicle operating costs across the country, creating room for technology-driven solutions that can provide more efficient and affordable mobility options.
PromiseLand is betting that the combination of electric vehicles, digital technology and locally developed solutions will enable ProTaxi to compete in Nigeria’s increasingly competitive e-hailing market while delivering affordable transportation to passengers.
Ahead of the official launch, the ProTaxi rider application is available on both iPhone and Android devices, allowing prospective users to access the platform ahead of its October 1 rollout.
