Notorious billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, better known as Evans, was back in the dock on Monday as the Lagos State Government re-arraigned him on fresh murder charges involving the deaths of two police officers.
The high-profile case, now before Justice Oyindamola Ogala of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, was transferred from Justice Adenike Coker, marking another twist in Evans’ long-running legal battles.
When proceedings began, State Prosecutor A.O. Azeez confirmed the transfer and requested a fresh arraignment despite Evans’ earlier plea bargain applications before the former judge.
Evans, represented by Charity O., and his co-defendant, Joseph Ikenna Emeka, represented by L.C. Onyejiakor, both pleaded not guilty to the **five-count amended charge**.
According to the charge, Evans and his co-defendant allegedly killed two policemen, Peter Nweke and Chijioke Ngozi, on August 27, 2013, around 10 p.m. at Festac Town, Lagos.
The offences violate Section 221 of the Lagos Criminal Law, 2011.
The convicted kidnapper, already serving sentences in two of his five ongoing criminal cases, now faces yet another uphill legal battle as the court adjourned the matter to November 19, 2025, for hearing and issuance of witness summons.
