A Lagos State Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, presided over by Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe, has sentenced four men to 14 years imprisonment each for a violent armed robbery carried out in June 2020.
The convicts, Ojomo Taiwo, Ojomo Kehinde, Emmanuel Bamidele (also known as “DPO”), and Peter Samuel (“Mogaji”), had posed as stranded passengers at Oshodi Bridge to lure their victim.
Once inside his vehicle, they turned on him at gunpoint, dragging him to the back seat, assaulting him, and dispossessing him of his valuables, including two mobile phones, an ATM card, and cash.
In a further blow, they drove off with his Toyota Sienna vehicle, abandoning him along the Gbagada axis in the dead of night.
However, in a twist that would later aid their conviction, the stolen vehicle was recovered the same day at Ikeja Shopping Mall.

While inspecting the car, the victim discovered a locally made double-barrel pistol with live cartridges left behind by the attackers, evidence he promptly handed over to the police.
That critical discovery helped investigators piece together the case that has now culminated in the conviction.
Initially pleading not guilty when arraigned in 2020, the defendants later changed their stance and entered a plea bargain agreement in April 2026, admitting guilt to reduced charges of conspiracy and armed robbery.
Justice Abike-Fadipe noted that the plea bargain was entered voluntarily but emphasized that the court was not bound by its terms.
Nonetheless, she sentenced the four men to 14 years imprisonment, with the term to run from the date of their initial remand.
