Lagos Judiciary Urges Staff to Uphold Excellence, Honours Outstanding Performers at Year-End Celebration

The Lagos State Judiciary has urged its officers and staff to sustain a culture of excellence, discipline, and diligence as it braces for the demands of the New Year.

The call was made at the judiciary’s end-of-year celebration in Lagos, which brought together judicial officers and non-judicial staff to review the year’s milestones and honour outstanding contributions across departments.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Olanrewaju Alogba, praised judges, magistrates, and support staff for their commitment to duty despite the intense workload associated with administering justice in one of Africa’s fastest-growing megacities.

He encouraged personnel to approach the New Year with renewed determination to raise professional standards, deepen integrity, and enhance service delivery to court users.

Justice Alogba emphasised that the effectiveness of the judiciary rests on teamwork, dedication and the resolve of every staff member to uphold the principles of fairness, efficiency and accountability.

Highlights of the event included the presentation of Awards of Excellence to staff members whose performance stood out during the year. Among the recipients was Mr. Adejugbagbe Charleston, Personal Assistant to the Chief Judge, who received an Award of Excellence in Data Processing.

The citation commended Charleston for his technical competence, commitment and consistent support to the Chief Judge through efficient data management and administrative coordination.

Justice Alogba explained that the recognition of excellence was intentional, noting that it motivates staff and strengthens a merit-driven culture within the judiciary.

The celebration also featured goodwill messages, music and social interactions, offering staff a chance to unwind after a demanding year while reaffirming their shared commitment to the effective administration of justice in Lagos State.
