Land Grabbing: Businessman Sends SOS to IGP over Death of Engineer, Delay Justice

Mr Adenuga Christopher Olanrewaju, a businessman, has urgently appealed to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to save his life and his family from a suspected land grabber, Mr Ugochukwu Kingsley Emerini, who Mr Olanrewaju alleges is using corrupt officers to intimidate and threaten him.

In his petition to the IGP, Mr Olanrewaju stated that the appeal became necessary following the death of Engineer David Huesu, who was allegedly killed by army officers on the instruction of Mr Ugochukwu Kingsley Emerini.

On the 20th of July, 2024, at about 4:30 am, Mr Olanrewaju stated that he received news that Engineer David, who was working on his site, was killed during an invasion of the Nigerian Army reportedly hired by Mr Ugochukwu Kingsley.

He urged the IGP to thoroughly investigate the allegations of the extra-judicial killing carried out by the Nigerian Army, allegedly accompanied by police officers, despite the ongoing investigation from his earlier petition.

Mr Olanrewaju’s “Save-Our-Soul” petition to the Inspector-General of Police was also sent to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chairman of the Police Service Commission, and the Minister of Police Affairs to seek swift assistance regarding what he described as “killings, maiming, harassment, violence, and attempted cover-ups.”

Since the incident, Mr Olanrewaju expressed that he has noticed strange individuals around his house, posing a risk to his family’s safety.

In his petition, he urged the IGP to extend the ongoing investigation by the Monitoring Unit to cover potential causes of death and thoroughly investigate any previous altercations with other individuals involved.

Mr Olanrewaju emphasized the interference in the investigation, noting that despite having written a petition to the IGP office on the 26th of April, 2024, and the case being assigned to the IGP Monitoring Unit, Ugochukwu Kingsley, with the aid of thugs and military personnel, invaded his property, resulting in the death of Engineer David Huesu and injuries to other workers.
