Police Arraign Driver Who Allegedly Steals Employer’s Vehicle Worth N20m

The Nigeria Police has arrraigned a 33-year-old driver, Nonso Christian before an Ikeja Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ogba for allegedly stealing his employer’s Toyota Hiace worth N20m.

Christian, who is a resident of No 32, Ikunna Street, Ikotun Egbe, is facing two counts bordering on conspiracy and stealing preferred against him by the Police.

Police prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the defendant committed the offense on August 10 at Ekeyson Motors Park, Ogba, Lagos.

Akeem told the court that the defendant stole a Toyota Hiace bus valued at N20m after he took passengers to their destination in Enugu State.

The prosecutor said that the complainant, Ekeyson Motors, reported the case to the police after all efforts made by him to get the defendant and his bus, failed.

Akeem said that with the help of some useful information the police gathered, the defendant was tracked down and arrested.

According to him the offence, committed contravened sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Bola Osunsanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Subsequently, the case to October 23 for mention.
