Tinubu Urged to Call FHA Boss to Order Over Alleged Disregard for Court Process
LAGOS — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been urged to call the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Mr Oyetunde Oladimeji Ojo, to order over what stakeholders described as the agency’s persistent disregard for court processes and the rule of law in property disputes.
The appeal was made by an Estate Developer, Engineer Samuel Oladele Ahmed, who spoke on behalf of the stakeholders following fresh proceedings before the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja Judicial Division, in a long-running dispute involving the FHA and property owners.
The latest development is contained in the Certified True Copy (CTC) of proceedings in Suit No. ID/13129LMW/2023, involving H.R.M. Oba Isaac Owolabi and others against the Federal Housing Authority.
At the proceedings of June 2, 2026, the court was informed that while the parties were working towards settlement, the FHA had issued notices to the claimants, prompting the claimants to approach the court with an application for interlocutory injunction.
Counsel for the claimants, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chris Okeke, raised concerns over activities allegedly being undertaken by the Authority while the matter remained before the court.
Counsel representing the FHA confirmed before the court that notices of demolition had been posted, but subsequently gave an undertaking that the Authority would not demolish the properties pending the hearing and determination of the claimants’ application.
The court recorded the undertaking and adjourned the matter for hearing of the pending applications.

Engineer Ahmed said the latest development had heightened concerns among affected property owners and stakeholders over what he described as a recurring pattern of actions by the FHA capable of undermining judicial proceedings.
He urged President Tinubu to direct the FHA management to respect all subsisting court orders and undertakings, stressing that government agencies should not act in a manner capable of weakening public confidence in the judiciary.
According to him, the stakeholders were not opposed to the FHA exercising its statutory responsibilities to protect government property and address illegal developments, but insisted that such powers must be exercised within the confines of the law.
Engineer Ahmed said the President’s intervention would not amount to interference with the judiciary, but would reinforce accountability within the executive arm and demonstrate the Federal Government’s commitment to the rule of law.
He appealed to the President to specifically call Ojo to order and ensure that the FHA allows courts to determine disputes before taking actions that could affect the subject matter of pending cases.
Engineer Samuel Oladele Ahmed, said respect for court orders must remain non-negotiable, particularly for a Federal Government agency, adding that the FHA should lead by example in upholding the rule of law and protecting citizens’ confidence in the justice system.
