The Federal High Courts and the National Industrial Courts get new Chief Judge.
Justice John Tsoho is sworn-in as the Chief Judge of Federal High Court and Justice Benedict Kanyipp for the National Industrial Court at the Supreme Court complex in Abuja.
At the inauguration, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, says Oath-taking or Swearing-in into an office is not something that should be celebrated as it is something that actually requires sympathising with the person that is sworn in.
According to him, an office like that of a judge is something that requires prayers for the person that is taking the oath, to have God intervention throughout his tenure.
He charged the newly inaugurated Chief Judges to justify their oath of office for God to help them in discharging their duties.
He reminded the new Chief Judges to know their onions, respect themselves and to be wary of their conduct and those they associated with.
“The law is not a respecter of persons,” he said, as he urged them to “deal with the situation as placed before you” and never to hesitate “to resign” when they realised an issue of conflict of interest.
” Don’t let anybody disturb your principles.”
