An Ikeja High Court has ordered Monday Odeh to be remanded in a correctional facility over the suspected murder of Abdulahi Yinusa, 54.
The charge of murder against Odeh was brought before Justice Adenike Coker.
A lawyer for the Lagos State Prosecution, Ms Titi Adeegbe, testified to the court that Odeh murdered Yinusa illegally in Magodo on April 4, 2019.
According to Adeegbe, the defendant hit Yinusa’s head on the floor, which caused his death.
In his view, the offence violates Section 223 of the Criminal Law, Cap. C. 17, Vol. 3, Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Adeegbe prayed for a trial date given the defendant’s plea.
The judge, however, adjourned the matter till Feb. 12 for trial.
Coker advised the Defence Counsel, Mrs Onikepo Braithwaite, to lay on the table before the defendant, the option of a plea bargain if deemed appropriate.
A plea bargain allows defendants to negotiate an agreement between the prosecution and the defence.
It allows the defendants to plead guilty in exchange for a more lenient sentencing, among others
