EFCC Declares Abuja Businesswoman Halimat Tejuosho Wanted Over Alleged Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared a 41-year-old Abuja-based businesswoman, Halimat Adenike Tejuosho, wanted over an alleged case of obtaining money by false pretence.

Tejuosho, a prominent figure in Abuja social circles, is the founder of Haleems Integrated Services Limited. In a notice posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) page on Monday, the anti-graft agency said she is being sought in connection with an ongoing investigation.

The notice, signed by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, included her photograph and identified her as an indigene of Lagos State. The commission also listed her last known address as House A26, Aso Grove Estate, Maitama Extension, Abuja.

“The public is hereby notified that Halimat Adenike Tejuosho is wanted by the EFCC in an alleged case of obtaining money by false pretence,” the statement read.

Tejuosho is reportedly the South-West zonal women leader of the City Boys Movement, a political support group aligned with Bola Tinubu.

The EFCC appealed to members of the public with useful information on her whereabouts to contact its offices nationwide, including those in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt, and Abuja. It also urged citizens to report to the nearest police station or other security agencies.

The development follows a series of allegations that have trailed the businesswoman in recent years. She was reportedly interrogated by the EFCC in 2025 over claims linked to an appointment and contract scam.

According to reports, she allegedly obtained funds from victims by promising non-existent federal appointments and lucrative government contracts, using forged documents and fake appointment letters.

A former business partner also accused her of misappropriating funds meant for a joint contract, alleging she diverted the money for personal use alongside associates. Tejuosho, however, had denied the allegations, including claims in 2023 that she fled the country to evade legal action.

Beyond her business dealings, Tejuosho has also been active in political circles. In 2024, some groups reportedly lobbied President Tinubu to appoint her as Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation following the exit of Betta Edu.

The EFCC said investigations are ongoing.
