A businesswoman, Rasheedat Adeleke, has been arraigned before a Yaba Magistrate Court, over allegations of assaulting her 29 years old sales lady at Ikotun area of Lagos State.
Rasheedat Adeleke was arraigned on a two-count charge by the Police in response to the report by the Directorate for Citizens Rights, Lagos State Ministry of Justice.
The defendant who own Super King Supreme Store at Ayodele Ogunkoya street, Ikotun, was said to have assaulted and inflicted injuries on Miss Bukola Akinola, by pouring hot water on her on the 28th of May, 2021 at Moriano Close, Saint Savour Primary School B/stop, Ijegun Road, Lagos.
In count one, Rashidat Adeleke and others in May 2021 at No. 15 Adebisi Awolola, Ikotun, Lagos did conspired together to commit felony contrary to section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015
Count two, the defendant and others at large unlawfully assaulted one Bukola Akinola by beating and pouring hot water on her contrary to section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Counsel from the Directorate for Citizens Rights, Lagos Ministry of Justice, Ms Kafilat Oseni said that the absence of the defendant in court on Thursday 24th of June, 2021 resorted to the arraignment of her 70-years-old surety, Mr Awoniyi Fatoki who was earlier detained at CCID, Panti due to the defendant’s absence in court.
In her rulings, Magistrate Omobola A. Salau pronounced a verdict of one million naira to the surety for the absence of the defendant in court for trial.
The defendant, however, appeared before the court after Magistrate Salau’s verdict.
The case has been adjourned till 2nd of August, 2021 for mention.
